Last August 21-23, 2017, the 50th batch missionaries knocked off the Survival and Revival and the SUPER (Spiritual Unity and Physical Endurance Reinforcement) Training in San Diego Beach, Batangas spearheaded by Pastor Jun Suk Jin, Associate Director of KUC.
Carrying their full-packed bags, the missionaries eagerly left the campus at 6:30 am bound for the activity venue. After an hour of travel, they immediately started the two-hour hiking and proceeded to the Physical Training. This part of the activity engaged the missionaries to learn how to be as one and to work as one. Whenever somebody missed out the instruction or made a mistake, all of them bears the consequence. They also come to realization that judging somebody who commits mistakes is definitely an unpleasant attitude since everyone is prone to make mistakes too.
Monday until Tuesday morning was the schedule for SUPER Training and Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning was for the Survival and Revival Training. For practical submergence of the missionaries, the second chapter of the training started with a camp cookery which the missionaries were tasked to make fire out of bamboo and with only three matches and cook eggs with the most available resources like mud, paper, plastic cellophane, and sticks. Other than that, more activities were introduced to them to develop their skills in surviving with just a minimum availability of resources around. Consequently, team building activities were procured during the end part of the training which enables them to carry and embrace new ideas and realizations on how to conquer their future obstacles and temptations in their mission fields.
Throughout the training period, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the sun never brightly shined and it rained almost all day until evening. Nevertheless, God has been so merciful for He has never left and yet made the program joyfully successful. Let us continue to include the 50th batch missionary training in our fervent prayers as these young people have committed their lives to the advancement of the Gospel.
